Notting Hill Greek Crosses

I sewed the Greek Cross blocks for this quilt on a retreat last weekend where I had both a fun and exhausting time!! Cindy wrote a great post about it. I finished everything on the quilt last night except for the binding so I'm counting this as a February finish.
Notting Hill Fabric by Joel Dewberry purchased here.
I love the combination of brights and soft shades in this line.

I had some experimental fun basing the quilting on an idea from Crazy Mom's Quilts Honeycomb pattern. I tried matching her settings but mine came up as a wave rather than a honeycomb pattern and I went with that. The overall finish is a little lumpy. I wouldn't use this again on a large quilt but it is great for smaller projects as you can see on Amanda Jean's post.  I have a need to keep experimenting until the day I sew my masterpiece!! :o)

The backing is a lemony yellow Denyse Schmidt dotted fabric from Joann's.

I've just begun a quilt/wallhanging for my daughter. It won't include any Kona Cotton White. I know......don't fall off your chair!

I'm using a paper piecing pattern from Freshly Pieced called Cartwheels and Kona Ash for the background fabric.

 February Finishes

See you soon!

stunning! I tried out the honeycomb quilting on a mug rug last night. I have the exact same machine as she does & was able to use her exact settings. it worked great on a tiny quilt...

I DID almost fall off my chair! :-) The Kona Ash looks great with that red and that pattern.

Great work on that wave - that's making lemons out of lemonade. I have such a tough time trying to do anything repetitive design consistently with quilting. I usually end up ripping it out and reverting to a simple stipple.
